Short version: we hold the little we need to introduce you to one good person a week, and we don't sell any of it. Ever.

What we collect

Your email address and first name. Your mobile number, which we verify by text so we know a real person is behind the profile. Your date of birth — other members only ever see your age, never the date itself. A photo. A London postcode, used to find a meeting spot roughly between the two of you. Your industry, your last role, where you are in your transition, what you're looking for, and when you're around. Optionally, your LinkedIn URL.

What other members see

Your first name, photo, age, industry, last role, postcode district, transition stage, your two prompt answers, and your LinkedIn if you added one. Your email, phone number and date of birth are never shown. Phone numbers are only shared when you both say, after meeting, that you'd like to stay in touch.

Payments

Payments are handled by Stripe. Card details go straight to them — we never see or store them. We keep a record that a payment happened, so we can settle refunds and disputes.

Who else touches your data

A small set of services that make Pause work: our hosting and database provider, Twilio for phone verification, Stripe for payments, our email provider for the messages we send you, and Google Maps to find venues near a midpoint. No advertisers, no data brokers, no lists.

Your choices

You can edit or delete your profile at any time from your account page. Deleting removes your profile and photo; we keep a minimal payment record where the law requires it. Email info@joinpause.co and a real person will answer.

Terms

Pause is a small network in London. Every member is reviewed before they're matched. You apply, we review, and if you're a fit we introduce you to one person at a time.

Who can join

You must be 18 or over, in or around London, and using your own real identity. Every application is reviewed by a person, and we may decline or remove anyone, for any reason, to keep the network safe and worth being in.

How matching works

Each week we offer you people to consider. When interest is mutual, you get a match. We make introductions — we don't vet anyone's claims about themselves, verify employment, or promise chemistry.

The meet fee

Each meet has a small fee — the exact amount is always shown before you pay. Once you both agree to meet, the payment is held, and it's only taken when you've both confirmed the meeting. If your match falls through before that, nothing is taken.

Not showing up

Cancelling within 24 hours of the meeting, or not turning up, counts as a no-show. The other person can request a refund, which we review by hand. Two no-shows and your matching pauses for four weeks. It's a small network — showing up is the whole deal.

Not getting it scheduled

Once you match, you have 72 hours to lock in a time and a café. If that doesn't happen and you're clearly the reason why — you didn't pay, didn't submit your times, or didn't accept a café while the other person did — any payment you'd already made is normally refunded in full. If it happens more than once, we stop refunding it: repeated lapses forfeit that payment to Pause as a cancellation fee. The other person is always refunded in full.

Safety

Meet in the public place we suggest. Tell someone where you're going. If anything feels wrong, use Report a concern in the app — it comes to us, not to them, and we act on it. If you're in immediate danger, call 999.

What we're not responsible for

Pause introduces people. What happens at a meeting is between the two of you — we're not responsible for anyone's conduct, advice, claims, or outcomes, and nothing on Pause is professional advice. Use your judgement as you would meeting anyone new.

Changes and contact

If we change anything that matters, we'll tell you by email. Questions, complaints, or deletion requests: info@joinpause.co. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
